This Week (Mon, 3/30 through Fri, 4/3): Read at your own pace, but you are expected to have read the first five (5) chapters this week. Independent Reading (10-15 minutes) - "Think before you speak. Read before you think." - Fran Lebowitz (Author, public speaker, actress). Today we'll begin reading some of Zora Neale Hurston's fiction, looking to get familiar with her usage of dialect and some of her common thematic subjects like gender roles, love, and morality. You will read "Sweat" in your Springboard textbook, Unit 5, Activity 5.9 (pp 450-461) and answer questions 4-15. This is a longer story and will likely take you both today and tomorrow to read, re-read and truly understand.
